As we all know, the pandemic has been devastating for comedians and all artists alike. Like many who had events planned and had to move the date, the CANFRAN Comedy Cabaret Tour will now take place in Spring 2022.
The CANFRAN Comedy Cabaret Tour was created to fill the demand for comedy opportunities for comedians in Canada while bringing awareness to the Canadian Association of Stand-up Comedians (CASC) and exporting Canadian talent to the world.
Touring five cities in Canada (Saint-John – Montreal – Calgary – Ottawa – Vancouver) and five cities in France (Paris – Marseille – Montpellier – Lille – Lyon), this bilingual tour will be hosted by award-winning Canadian comedian Rachelle Elie ( OFF-JFL, Women in Comedy Festival, Hubcap Comedy Festival) and co-hosted by Hocine Power founder of the Open Barbe team (over 50M views on Youtube).
The tour will include three comedians from France touring Canada and three comedians from Canada touring France alongside local comedians from each touring city.
The CANFRAN Comedy Cabaret Tour will take place from March 14th to March 28th, 2022. Tickets will go on sale on July 1st, 2021. Check the website for details and follow @CANFRANComedy on social media for updates.
The CANFRAN team has not lost steam and is pushing ahead to spring 2022 with high hopes and plans to make this two-year project become reality. The team has applied for three grants to help finance the tour: The Canada Arts Abroad, Arts Across Canada and the Creative Export Fund.
“We are committed to making this event happen for comedians, the comedy industry and Canada.” says Johanne Britton from The Mob’s Press, “We know this project will be the first of many similar tours to come and we’re excited to see where it goes.”
